Professor Bob Evans, School of Social Science at the University of Waikato will be speaking at Lincoln University’s annual State of the Nation’s Environment Address on ‘Fair shares, self-interest and environmental planning, will New Zealand cope with the challenges of the 21st century?’.

Our world is changing rapidly, more so than most of us appreciate. We continue to make ever-increasing demands on our environment, and yet our global resources are diminishing.

We need to ensure that environmental planning in New Zealand (and elsewhere) is guided by principles of equity and sustainability, reflecting the need for the world’s prosperous nations to recognise that it is in their long-term self-interest to reconsider current development trajectories and to think globally and act locally.

Held in Stewart Lecture Theatre 1, Lincoln University.
