The Altericons exhibition runs from the 25th January until the 31st of January at the St.Art Gallery in Wellington.

Altericons features works by Kate White, Isobel White, Karley Skinner and Crafty m.e. – Erin Howell and Megan Howell.

The exhibition is about iconic female characters from history and literature; with the likes of Morrigan, the Mona Lisa, and Mary Mary Quite Contrary making an appearance.

Kate’s paintings are on canvas and her work features heroines from legend and myth, catapulted into an apocalyptic time-zone.

Isobel’s paintings are on wood and they depict girls from nursery rhymes, where a sinister undercurrent peeks through the smiling, cherub-like faces.

Karley’s paintings are on canvas take a spin on the renaissance style, showing us her own versions of Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Crafty m.e. is an internet craft company which creates made to order, hand made cushions, blankets and quilts. For the exhibition, Crafty m.e. has worked closely with Isobel White and created four beautiful cushions which compliment Isobel’s paintings.

St.art Gallery is located at 174 Cuba Street and is open between 9am and 5pm.

This exhibition is cash only and there are rumours that buyers are keen so act fast to secure a one off piece of Wellington art. There are a range of prices so there should be something for everyone.

We really look forward to seeing you at the gallery!
