Tim Beveridge - Live at the Quarry with special guest Tina Cross.

See some of NZ’s best native musicians play this Valentine’s Day in one of Christchurch’s most stunning natural locations.

The Ark Tour, in association with Yealands Estate, presents this ‘concert for conservation’ in the Halswell Quarry Park, starring Tim Beveridge, a 10 piece band and special guest Tina Cross and on Sunday 14 February from 5pm (Rain date Monday 15 February)

Tim will fill your Valentine’s night with all your favourite pop hits, swing, jazz and show tunes accompanied by entertainment icon, Tina Cross. This live concert in the beautiful and historic Halswell Quarry is an experience that can’t be missed!

New Zealander Tim Beveridge is an entertainer in the best traditions of Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. With a voice which has been described as ‘effortless’ and ‘dazzling’, he has quickly carved out his own unique style with his take on the American song book. Tim has performed sell-out shows across New Zealand and Australia and has collaborated with world renowned musicians including legendary arranger Russ Garcia, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Dame Malvina Major and Sir Howard Morrison.

“Upbeat, polished, dazzling, smooth. This concert presented an opportunity, rare these days, to hear live swing music and you would be hard pressed to find anything better than this in New Zealand.” Rachael Hawkey Christchurch Press

Tina Cross has been part of New Zealand pop culture history since she took ‘Nothing But Dreams to the winners podium at the Pacific Song Contest in 1979 in ‘that dress’.

As a recording artist Tina has conquered the charts on both sides of the Tasman as a soloist and as lead singer of Australian techno pop group Koo De Tah, with 3 pop albums, 1 musical theatre album, and the Shortland Street theme song, under her belt. Tina has worked alongside luminaries such as Sammy Davis Jr, Tom Jones and Meatloaf. She has won many awards including NZ’s Top Female Vocalist and the prestigious Tui for Best Theatrical Performer.

The concert will also be supporting a fantastic conservation project at Halswell Quarry, with a portion of ticket sales going toward a community supported Canterbury native wetlands restoration project. Halswell Quarry Park Ranger Adam Willetts is delighted with the link between the event and conservation awareness;

“This is a great opportunity to further support, promote and enhance the wonderful conservation work done at the park over the years by local and regional volunteers and the Christchurch City Council” says Mr Willetts, “By restoring natural ecosystems, especially in wetlands and water corridors like rivers, we can create the habitats that will enable our special native birds, insects, fish and other animals to return to the Canterbury region in greater numbers which will benefit us all!”

And with the date being that special day for lovers everywhere, this concert enables you to treat your loved one to a unique and memorable experience. Pack a picnic or grab some tasty treats on site, as a range of food options will be available. The concert is strictly no BYO alcohol as Yealands Wines will be available for purchase at the bar along with beers and soft drinks.

Event organiser Jackie Sanders adds “This evening will be a great opportunity to enjoy some top NZ music in a beautiful setting and know that you are doing your bit to help a great local conservation project”

So bring your dancing shoes and your friends for a special night under the stars in the unique quarry amphitheatre.
