Karlo Mila is a New Zealand-born Pasifika poet of Tongan and Pakeha descent, with ancestral connections to Samoa. She launches her second volume of poetry "A Well Written Body" at the festival.

Tusiata Avia writes and performs poems which explore her mixed Samoan and Palangi heritage and her feelings about identity, belonging and not belonging.

Kapka Kassabova was born in Bulgaria and moved to New Zealand at 19 when she started writing in English. Currently based in Edinburgh , her poetry is inspired in part by her “homelessness”, and her travel memoir, "Street Without a Name: Childhood and Other Misadventures in Bulgaria", is due out later this year.

Join Tusiata, Kapka and Karlo for poetry, laughter and discussion of the intricacies of mixed identities

Chair: Manying Ip, whose most recent publication is "Being Maori-Chinese: Mixed Identities".
