Celebrated bard of addicts, lovers and the underworld, Luke Davies’ first novel "Candy" was made into a film, starring the late Heath Ledger, Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey Rush. His third volume of poetry "Totem" won the 2005 South Australian Premier’s Literary Award and was overall Age Book of the Year.

Luke’s poetry is celebrated for its clarity, humour and exploration of cosmology, quantum mechanics and chaos theory. It is perhaps no surprise that Luke chose Howard Hughes as the subject of his third novel "God of Speed"; he describes Hughes as an ‘emblem for everything weird, wacky and wrong with the modern era’.

Chair: Dan Salmon.
