Mario Canonge began his career at the age of fifteen when he played the organ at his local church, Saint Theresa. Within two years, he was touring the Caribbean islands with the Iles du Vent Choir.

Today, he has a wealth of experience and an impressive musical career behind him. He launched his debut with the La Manigua eighties salsa band and with the co-founding of the band Ultramarine in 1983. After winning first prize at the Festival de la Défense piano competition, Mario launched into a series of stage and recording ventures in collaboration with the likes of Nicole Croisille, Manu Dibango, Michel Jonasz.

His name is now well established in European and world jazz circles and music concert and festival circuit scenes. He recently broke new ground by having performances fully booked for three days at New Morning, the largest and most prestigious club in Paris.
